Since GMI was first launched in 2004, the global community's interest in addressing methane has grown significantly. GMI collaborates strategically with other international organizations and initiatives that are devoted to methane mitigation internationally and have an interest in participating in GMI activities. GMI has designated the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme, as GMI Strategic Partners. GMI engages in frequent dialogue with its Strategic Partners to take advantage of synergies and catalyze methane mitigation globally, including by identifying areas of cross-collaboration, developing joint events, tools, and resources, and leveraging each other’s organizational strengths and networks.
